Methods of Iterating – Process and Outcomes

My tool of choice is Adobe After Effects as a tool for creating motion graphics. To start with, I tried copying parts of a series of moving posters created by Jun Choi.

I then explored the major controls of AE by iterating through different styling methods of a short animation featuring three balls merging.

After multiple iterations, I have identified the essential controls for AE while designing motion graphics as follows: inputs, frame rate, speed curve, value curve, numbers, and mathematical expression

To get a better grasp of these parameters, I conducted a quick experiment to visualize weather data.

Adapting the principles of conditional design, I eventually created a self-iterative information visualizer in AE, which create animations according to participants’ response to a survey.
